Tom Hamilton (full name Thomas William Hamilton; born December 31, 1951, in Colorado Springs, CO) is the bassist for the band Aerosmith. He is one of the unlockable guitarists in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. He co-wrote three of the band's hits: "Sweet Emotion", "Janie's Got a Gun", and "Jaded".
[edit] Biography
Tom Hamilton learned how to play the guitar from his brother, who got a guitar when Tom was just four years old. He started seriously practicing at age 12, but switched to bass guitar to join a band at age 14. Also in the band was future Aerosmith guitarist, Joe Perry. The band broke up, but Joe and Tom moved to Boston to start another band. There they met Steven Tyler, Ray Tabano, and Brad Whitford. Aerosmith was born.
In August of 2006, Hamilton was diagnosed with throat cancer. He had to drop out of an Aerosmith tour for treatment.[1] In December of 2006, he reported that he is cancer free.[2]
