"Trippolette" is a song hidden in the original Guitar Hero that can only be play with the help of cheat applications like Gameshark or Action Replay. The song was originally composed by former Harmonix employee Andraleia 'Andi' Buch (credited in-game as Andrew Buch).[1][2]

Walkthrough[]

Beating the song requires a lot of effort, as getting 5 stars is a tough challenge. It will be a problem to keep your multiplier up during the solos because of the messed up Hammer-ons and Pull-offs mechanics in the game as well as the small timing window to hit said solos. It also doesn't help that the song's music is 7 beats a measure rather than 8, so strumming in constant rhythm is tricky. Most of the song is 3 notes in a beat so you must know how to alt-strum consistently for long periods of time. It helps that there is a ridiculous amount of Star Power phrases in this song: 14 Star Power phrases are found in a song that is under 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Accessibility[]

These cheat codes for third-party cheating devices allows access to "Trippolette" by replacing "Guitar Hero" by Monkey Steals the Peach with it.[3]

Guitar Hero 1 - 'Trippolette' Expert 100% FC (249,212)

Trivia[]

  • The song was originally composed by Buch for her Advanced Modal Harmony final project, which was more jazz-fusion, but was rejected.[2] She then made a revision, replacing the jazzy instruments with guitars, which was then included in the game files.
  • The song was planned to be in Guitar Hero, but was cut at the last second because it was "snuck onto the disc by someone in QA without the dev team knowing until too late. Needless to say, [s]he doesn't work at Harmonix anymore."
    • While Andi Bush had friends among management, whenever her name would come up for future projects, the conversation—as Buch puts it—would say something like, "Wasn't that the kid who hacked their song into the game? Yeah... let's consider someone else."[2]
  • Buch was allowed to keep in the song in Guitar Hero as a cheat code song, after Harmonix agreed to use her Gameshark code to unlock "Trippolette".[2]
  • Buch later re-composed and released the song on Rock Band Network, including Bass and Drums parts. Guitar is a lot easier thanks to the improved HOPO mechanics of later Guitar Hero and Rock Band games.
